Barbara Toth was born in 1996 in Makó and began violin lessons at the age of seven. Taught
initially by Anita Bíró, she quickly advanced, performing in concerts and leading the youth string
orchestra by age nine. In 2010, her musical achievements were recognized by the Margit Istók
Foundation.
At 14, Barbara moved to Budapest to study at the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music
under Teréz Pichner, with additional guidance from Erika Tóth, Géza Kapás, and chamber
music mentor Zoltán Fejérvári. Her string quartet performed at prestigious events like the Fourth
Metro Line Opening and the Budapest Spring Festival.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2019 at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne,
studying under Michael Vaiman and performing extensively with the Junge Philharmonie
Cologne, including a memorable concert at the Cologne Philharmonic. She then completed her
master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London under György Pauk, combining her
studies with concert tours, lectures on the Kodály method, and teaching.
Barbara now teaches violin and continues to perform internationally as a soloist and member of
the Trio Camarasa alongside Paloma Camarasa and Krisztina Orvos as well as in orchestras
based in the UK. She took the role of Summer Academy Director at the Altalena Music Festival
in 2023 and has big plans for the next seasons in Tuscany and in Hungary.
