Born and raised in Paris in a family of musicians (Luciano Berio dedicated his harp sequence to his father), Fabrice Pierre studied harp with Pierre Jamet and conducting with Paul Ethuin and Franco Ferrara. In 1980, Pierre Boulez offered him the post as assistant conductor of the Ensemble Intercontemporain.
In 1984, he unanimously won the First Prize at the International Harp Competition ‘Marie-Antoinette CAZALA’ in Gargilesse (France) and, in the same year, was appointed Professor of harp at the ‘Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse’ in Lyon.
He is regularly invited to teach at numerous international academies (Bologna, Nice, Périgueux, Florence, Prades…) and, since 1991, he has been harp tutor at the European Union Youth Orchestra.
Italy, Germany, Finland, Switzerland and Japan have applauded him as a soloist and in chamber ensembles (Patrick Gallois and Pierre-Henri Xuereb are his main accomplices) both for his rigorous and refined interpretations and for the appetite and good taste with which he has always faced the perils inherent in post-concert dinners.
Regularly invited to major international festivals (Kuhmo, Prades, Portogruaro, Kitakyushu, Tokyo…), Fabrice Pierre has recorded for Calliope, DGG, EMI, Forlane, Naxos, 3D and regularly registers his luggage with the most prestigious companies (Air France, Scan Air Charter, Alitalia, Air Bangladesh, KLM, Balai Kalibrasi Penerbangan, Lufthansa, Kyrgyzstan Airlines).
He now leads a dual career as a conductor and harpist, devoting much of his time to promoting new compositions.
